SG-VHV host its 1st Annual Veterans Day Golf Tournament. The Hills of Cove course was the site of this fundraising golf tournament.
This tournament is a fundraiser to help support our effort to provide 350 Thanksgiving baskets for families in need in Killeen, Copperas Cove, Harker Heights and Nolanville.

All American Chevrolet donated the vehicle for the hole-in-one prize. Josh Cary of All American Chevrolet, played the event, as a Copperas Cove High School graduate said his commitment to the tournament goes back to his roots.
“This organization is near and dear to my heart,” Cary said. “I grew up in a military family and spent 22 years as a military kid with my father in the service. So, this is all about the veterans for me.”
VFW Post 9191 member Eddie Alexander is a Vietnam War veteran who came from Killeen to thank the sponsors and players for supporting the tournament. “I think this is just wonderful, and we need more organizations that support soldiers and families during these times of repeated deployments,” Alexander said.
Stoney Brook Senior Living Community also sponsored the tournament as way to give back to an organization that supports its residents.
“(Veterans Helping Veterans) is an amazing organization that supports Stony Brook throughout the year, and it just makes sense that we would return the support,” said Chelsey Haefner, senior community marketing director for Stony Brook. Haefner said from 80 to 90 percent of the facility’s male residents are retired military.
