2012 POW-MIA Ceremony

Star Group-Veterans Helping Veterans was honored to participate in the 2012 POW-MIA Ceremony in front of Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center on September 21st.  Several of the Star Group-Veterans Helping Veterans members were in attendance and our wreath of honor was laid by Ms. Estes, Mr. Barker, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Haywood.

In a heart touching ceremony that can barely be described in words, the 2012 POW-MIA Ceremony was well attended by Veterans Groups, Auxiliaries, Civilians and those who wanted to pay tribute to our current POW-MIA soldiers. Although the fate of many U.S. service members currently missing or unaccounted for may be uncertain, they haven’t been forgotten.

Nearly 20 wreaths were laid in front of the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Friday, honoring POW/MIA Recognition Day. Many people took time to honor and remember those who are still unaccounted for but remember.

The guest speaker, retired Lt. Gen. Donald W. Jones stated although it may sometimes seem that the U.S. is not doing enough to secure the return of these soldiers, the goal has been and always will be to ensure that U.S. agencies maintain the effort to find or account for all of those missing in action or prisoners of war.

In attendance, were the loved ones of several of the MIA-POW soldiers as well as some of the soldiers who were previously POW or MIA.  It was evident this was quite an emotional day for these participants.

Let’s remember to pray for all soldiers and their families as they put their life on the line for our freedom.
